RECOVER REPRESENTS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS’ BIOLOGY GRADUATE STUDENT ASSOCIATION’S RESEARCH DAY

Two days filled with the latest biologic research and presentations were celebrated during the University of North Texas’ 16th annual Biology Graduate Student Association Research Day. Throughout this event, graduate students within various University of North Texas biology programs presented and communicated their areas of research and current work with fellow students, professors and staff. This event allows students within the various biology graduate programs to become educated on what their colleagues are researching, receive feedback and advice on their current research projects, and allows the opportunity to connect and collaborate with fellow scientists.

Three of RECOVER’s University of North Texas Ph.D. student members participated during the event: Rachel Leads, from co – PI’s Dr. Aaron Robert’s lab, Fabrizio Bonatesta, from co-PI Dr. Ed Mager’s lab, and Naim Bautista, from co-PI Dr. Warren Burggren’ lab. Rachel presented her research on photo-induced toxicity in Deepwater Horizon oil on larval fish during the oral session, in which she won the outstanding oral presentation award. Additionally, Fabrizio presented his research on the impact to fish kidney function when exposed to Deepwater Horizon oil during the poster sessions.

Great job to all students that presented and attended this wonderful event, and congratulations to Rachel on winning for the award for outstanding oral presentation. Wonderful job to all!
